Superman: Man of Steel Inspired Nails

Hi guys, so I've been away from blogging for a few months while I've been finishing up with last semester's classes but I'm back with some new posts

Lately I've been captivated by the beautiful Henry Cavill and I'm so excited to see him playing the new Superman in Man of Steel.

❤ ❤

I though it would be fun to come up with a nail designed inspired by MOS, this is what I
came up with:

Casual OOTD

Hi everyone :)

I've got two pretty big assignment due in on Monday so I'm going to kept this weeks' post short and sweet.

A few months ago I bought one of those mid-length, mesh, over-lay skirts on a whim. However it sat in my wardrobe for the longest time ever because I just didn't know what to wear it with. A few weeks ago I went on one of my "I'm going to try on every piece of clothing I own because I'm bored and...well it sounds fun" rampages, and found this really simple outfit combination that I though worked really well.

Sugar Baby Lip Gloss Duo: Swatches/Mini Review

Hi everyone :)

A few months ago around Christmas time I brought this duo lip gloss set by Sugar Baby. I hadn't really heard anything about this brand but I absolutely fell in love with the packaging, so I though I give their glosses a go.

The Perfect Chelsea Buns

One of my favourite things about  living in London was the ability to go out and buy literally any kind of food I desired. After moving this privilege was no longer available, however my disappointment didn't last long as this is what sparked my interest in cooking and baking.

A few days ago I finally got around to making one of my favourite baked goods... Chelsea buns. I used Paul Hollywood's recipe but tweaked a few things to suit my taste and they tasted incredible (or so say the people who ate them). So here it is...

Estee Lauder Limited Edition Colors: Swatches and Mini Review

A few months ago I got my hands on the Estee Lauder Limited Edition Colors Palette, it has since become my favourite "handbag palette" to carry around with me.

Like a lot of high end makeup products, this eye and lip palette comes in the standard velvet pouch. I've always appreciated this little touch because there's something very elegant about it, and also on a practical level- if you are going to carry it around in your bag, it stops the case from getting scratched or damaged.

In addition to the pouch, the palette also comes with the standard sponge tip applicator and small brush. I don't tend to use these but I guess it's nice to have them in there just in case.

The packaging itself has 'Estee Lauder' inscripted on the lid...very fancy.

❤ FOTD: Valentines Day ❤

Happy Valentines Day!! :)

It most probably isn't Valentines Day today (the day you're reading this) but it is Valentines Day today (the day I'm writing this) soooo happy V-day!!

Although I'm spending yet another Hallmark holiday all alone, I'm really not too bothered. I mean who really wants to pay an exorbitant amount of money and roses that would cost a fraction of the price any other day?? Despite this, I do enjoy getting into the spirit, corporate holiday or not.

Anyway, back onto the main point of this post...FOTD time :)

OOTN: Black on Black, Leather and Lace

Well hello everyone!
A few days ago I went out to an event and got quiet a few compliments on what I was wearing, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to do a Outfit Of The Night (OOTN) post.

Up top I wore this very beautiful lace/mesh top that I got a few weeks ago at Myer, Its by the brand T by Bettina Liano, originally $69.95, reduced down to $40,00 with an extra 50% or 75% off, I can't really remember which, but nonetheless an amazing deal.

Simple Valentines Day Nails

For this years Valentines day I though I'd keep it simple, so I came up with this really quick and easy design.

I started of by applying a light pink nail polish all over my nails. Then with a tooth pick I created two dots on the corner of my nail and joined them up to create a heart shape.
Simples :)

I think this is great if you don't want to spend ages on your nails or don't want anything to over the top.

Hope you guys enjoyed this little post :)

Chi Chi Fashionista Nail Set: Review/Swatches

The set contains 8 nail polishes in total, a pretty good deal for under $20.

It was disappointing to see that the company hadn't bothered to give the nail polishes any names, but I guess it's not that big of a deal.

The first nail polish in this collection is this very elegant pearlescent white shade- it's unfortunate that this doesn't translate very well on camera. I honestly wasn't expecting to like this particular shade because lighter nail polishes tend to look really awkward on my tanned skin- but this one is surprisingly flattering. Like a few nail polishes in this collection, it's not completely opaque- with two coats you get a nice semi-opaque finish.

The next nail polish in the collection is a very sparkly golden metallic shade. Its looks great on it's own or even as a base for the glitter polishes (swatches below). Again, It's not completely opaque- I'd estimate it's at about 90% opacity.

As you can see from the picture, the next polish in the collection is probably the most unique. It's a very  dark black with small specks of multi-coloured sparkle and bigger specks of silver glitter. When I first tested this shade out, I was very doubtful that the sparkle would translate well onto my nails however I was pleasantly surprised. Under most lighting the multi-coloured sparkle is noticeable- more so at night under artificial lighting than during the day time.

First Impressions: Revlon Fabulash Mascara

I've been using my beloved Maybelline One by One mascara for a few months now and I've gotten to the point were I'm actually worried about using it all up and having to spend $20.69 to get a new one. Thankfully, I received a few makeup products for Christmas- Fabulash being one of them.

Colour: Blackened Brown

I wasn't to familiar with the product so I decided to look at some of the reviews out there, and discovered that there really aren't many people out there who like the mascara. As a result, I didn't have high hopes.

The major disappointment for me was the brush. I generally like my mascara wands to be skinny (the only exception being the one by one wand) but the placement of bristles on this wand is just awful. I suspect that the spacing between the bristles is the main cause of lashes clumping together. I also found it impossible to separate and define my lashes because the brush just wouldn't allow it.

And that honestly is my only criticism.

After getting over the initial disappointment of the brush, when carefully applied, I liked how the mascara added a bit more length onto my lashes and a bit of volume to- which is all I really look for in a mascara. I'm also pleased to say that the lasting power is very good. Recently it's been extremely warm were I live- 38-41 Celsius to be exact, and I haven't experienced any flaking or smudging even out in the heat.

Although I wouldn't use this mascara if I was going to out somewhere special, I think it's great for everyday wear because it looks very natural. I can completely understand why some people don't like Fabulash- if you have shorter lashes, I can't imagine this mascara doing much for you, but I'm glad I've given it a try and I hope I continue to enjoy using it.

Thanks For Reading :)
